Celestial Progenitors

The Cosmic Pillars

The Celestial Progenitors, or the 'Cosmic Pillars', are embodiments of the three basic building blocks of the Cosmonomic universe, which are Matter, Energy and Void. They are as old as the universe itself- as it and they are, in fact, one and the same. Despite their ancient and incomprehensibly immense nature, they have adopted names and physical forms, which have been observed on very rare occassions by mortals. All three reside together at the metaphysical center of the universe, which only they and the Stars can reach. Their names are Ayla, who is the embodiment of Matter and whose symbol is a moon, Aelia, embodiment of Energy and whose symbol is a sun, and Naught, embodiment of Void and whose symbol is an eclipse. Un-capitalized matter, energy and void, the inanimate products the Celestial Progenitors represent and are, are known as the three elements, and each have several other commonly used, context-dependent names. Commonly used names include: body, material, or form for matter; mind, charge, or potential for energy; and voidstuff, soul, or magic for void. The Progenitors, through their combined efforts, created the Stars, and allowed them nearly-free reign of the universe, with the exception of a set of hard rules the Progenitors have already determined. The Progenitor-made ruleset that applies to the entire universe is known as the Cosmonomic Ruleset. Besides the Stars, the Progenitors are each capable of creating beings made entirely of their creator's respective element, known as Moonlings, Sunlings or Voidlings, or generally as Lings. Any piece of matter, energy or void that is used in the universe is a direct piece of the corresponding Celestial Progenitor, and while the Progenitors can expand to create more of their element, they have not done so since the first Constellation began their first project. When questioned by their children, they claim it is because limitations are necessary for creativity to blossom. This frustrates the Stars, but the Progenitors remain absolute in their decision.
